  参考写作:

Undoubtedly, people are now enjoying one of the greatest technological boom times in human history. One achievement is that more means of transportation are available nowadays, but it also requires more cash devoted into the public transport. I think that city expansion and private cars should be responsible for this.

One reason for this trend is associated with the growth in the size of cities. As a large number of people are drawn to cities either in search of more employment opportunities or seeking superior health care, this definitely will pose tremendous pressure on governments to deal with the frustrating traffic congestion. One of the measures to help citizens spend less time commuting is to provide more public transport services, such as buses, subways and trains, meaning that more financial support are needed.

Besides, the popularity of automobiles, more efficient and comfortable, also discourages people’s enthusiasm for travel by public transport. As the number of potential passengers reduces, the companies running public transport will find it more difficult to keep a balance of payments. In this way, the government have to subsidize public transport, ensuring that the existing system can operate normally and avoid affecting people's travel.

The spending on public transport is still increasing and measures should be taken to solve this problem. By increasing taxes on gasoline, the users of private cars will reconsider the extensive and efficent public transport system, which will create more revenue for the operating enterprises and more taxes to the government. Also, for the government, private companies should be allowed to build the traffic network and, as marketization management can drive overall operational efficiencies.

With the political will, such measures could really reduce the amount of money paid into public transport, considering city expansion and the popularity of private cars.
