  Nowadays, air pollution has become a thorny issue and several feasible measures have been proposed in an attempt to enhance the quality of air across borders. Although it is universally accepted that car-free days can be an effective solution, other methods seem to become more pragmatic.

  On the one hand, when citizens are willing to resort to other means of transport instead of their private cars, the practice of car-free days seems to be fruitful. Due to less private vehicles on the road, the public transportation system can run more smoothly; therefore, there is, in all likelihood, a considerable decline in the amount of pollution-causing gas, meaning that the air quality may become cleaner. This situation might encourage individuals to reduce car usage on a regular basis to diminish air contamination to some extent.

  Nevertheless, it is considered that more alternatives could be applied to minimize the number of air quality pollutants. The most immediate solution would be that all factories need to apply cutting-edge pollution-free technologies in production so that exhaust fumes from these factories would become more environmentally friendly. Another remedy might be the exploration and application of some renewable energy including nuclear power, solar energy and wind power. This kind of resource may contribute to fulfilling the increasing requirements for energy for industrial production and daily household consumption without causing serious damage to the air quality.

  In conclusion, despite the certain benefits of car-free day as aforementioned, I still argue that various other methods seem to be more achievable to overcome air pollution problems and therefore improve our living standard.
