　　Education of young people is highly prioritized in many countries. However, educating adults who cannot write or read is even more important and governments should spend more money on this. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

　　Some people claim that governments should invest more in eliminating illiteracy among adults than in children’s education. However, I would say it is impossible to venerate either stage of education as more important due to the ambiguous boundary between each other.

　　Indeed, it is not difficult to understand why some people prioritize adults over younger generations in education. Those who think in this way opt to attribute many conundrums embedded in society to illiteracy of adults. Problems regarding this include unemployment, poverty or high crime rates, all of which are considered to be inextricably bound up with low educational level among adult demographic. In this respect, many people jump to the conclusion that authority should invest more in eradicating illiterate adults as opposed to children’s education.

　　Plausible thought the above reasoning seems, I would say it is not justified enough to assume adults superior to younger generations in education. Those appealing for more educational subsidies in adult population are oblivious to the fact that education is something more of a continuum – an adult’s failure to read and write may inevitably stems from a lack of elementary education in his or her early age. Based on this understanding, it seems absurd to me to attribute the aforementioned societal problems to any specific phase of education and then claim for more investment based on the presupposition.

　　From what has been discussed, I would say that it is erroneous to claim for primary emphasis on the education on adults as contrasted to that on younger generation, because education process is a continuum that cannot be divided into specific stages.
