　　Some people believe that manual workers should earn the same salary as those who have higher qualifications. I completely disagree with this because it is not fair and is also harmful to a country’s economic development.

　　The main reason I disagree is that an employee’s income should be based on the complexity of their working content. Some professional occupations like doctors, lawyers and accountants have to deal with complicated tasks such as doing surgery, analyzing cases or dealing with a great amount of data. Completing these tasks requires high-level knowledge and skills that should be learned over a number of years at colleges or universities. In contrast, physically hard jobs tend to be much simpler. For example, porters, loaders and cleaners just need to carry goods or do cleaning without having to master advanced knowledge and techniques. It is therefore unfair to provide manual workers as much salary as professionals

　　Additionally, it would have an adverse impact on economic development if these two types of occupation were paid equally. It takes less time, tuition and energy to complete training for physical jobs such as construction worker, carpenter or hairdresser,whereas teachers and doctors have to make a lot more effort to receive required qualifications. If there were no difference between salaries of different occupations, parents and students would be likely to choose those easier and cheaper programs which lead to physical work rather than those longer and moreexpensive degree courses in teaching or medicine. This will probably result in a lack of professionals that are fundamental to the society and consequently people may suffer from poor social welfare.

　　In conclusion, I totally disagree that physically hard jobs should be paid the same with those require high-level qualifications, because it is neither fair nor beneficial to employees and the society.

　　On the one hand, it is reasonable that an employee’s income should be based on the contribution he or she makes to the community. Manual workers and those who use their brains play almost equally important roles in people’s life. While doctors, teachers, and lawyers can help people stay healthy, learn knowledge and enjoy legal rights, cleaners, porters and plumbers also enable us to live a more convenientlife. Although these occupations have different requirements when it comes to qualifications, the services or products they provide could be of the same value to individuals and the society. I therefore agree that they should be paid equally.

　　Additionally, an equal income between physically hard jobs and professional jobs might be beneficial to a country’s economic development. If there were a salary gap,more people might choose to learn courses that lead to jobs with higher income, whereas other occupations would suffer from a lack of workers. A good example of this is the shortage of technicians China suffered over the past years,which had an adverse impact on the production efficiency of multiple factories and companies. Therefore, I would argue that an equal salary might help various industries recruit and maintain a competent workforce which is the key to economic growth.

　　In conclusion, I totally agree that people whodo physically hard jobs should be paid as much as those who have higher qualifications because they could make nearly the same contribution to the society, and this will help both types of occupations to retain their attractiveness in order to make sure there are enough employees which would guarantee a country’s economic development.
