　　It is irrefutable that careless driving and violation of traffic rules certainly result in a large number of accidents and stricter punishments are necessary to reduce them. However, I believe that there are also certain other measures that have equal or more effectiveness in ensuring road safety.

　　It is undeniable that stricter punishments can be somewhat effective to improve road safety. As we all know, motoring offence is crime. In this case, proposing tough policies about both non-custodial sentence and prison sentence is necessary because they can act as a deterrent. In fact, many countries in the world implemented the confiscation of the driving licenses to people not adhering to the traffic law. In the UK, for example, people can take a prison sentence for several years because of endangering innocent live. These policies absolutely succeed in a certain aspect. However, this does not mean that stricter punishment is the only way to tackle this problem. After all, there are certain accidents that occur not because of traffic violations but the poor road and climate conditions. Therefore, it should be noted that drivers alone cannot be blamed for such mishaps and other measures are also needed.

　　A more effective strategy by the government would be to straighten accident prone curves and widen narrow roads. Larger number of road signs and proper traffic signals can also be effective in reducing accidents on roads. Moreover, speed cameras can be installed to remind drivers not to commit any mistake or break the rules. Recently, the way is applied in many areas and already brings positive results as a decreasing of the number of people going beyond standard speed. Finally, the police should patrol regularly around roads of local by vehicle inspections, which makes sure that they can do something on time as a sudden accident.

　　In conclusion, there is not only way that brings stricter punishments to change road safety. we should flexibly use proper traffic measures on driving offenses to get the best results.
