　　It is true that the relentless use of vehicles has give rise to repercussions for various aspects of society. While I tend to focus on its ramifications in terms of the environment and public health, I disagree to discourage the use of private cars simply because of our apprehension about the potential pitfalls.

　　Of all concomitants of people’s reliance on vehicles, the most frequently mentioned one is the environmental disruption. For decades, air pollution and exhaustion of fossil fuels have long been ranked high-profile conundrums that exhaust governments, scientists and environmentalists, with greenhouse gas emissions produced by rampant use of vehicle as the major culprit. To complicate matters even more, such a life on wheels has exacerbate the sedentary lifestyle of young generations, thus leading to healthy problems such as obesity, not to mention the increasing respiratory diseases that inextricably stem from exhaust fumes.

　　However, to tackle these aforementioned problems does not necessarily mean the demise of vehicles. While the use of motor vehicles does take its toll on the environment and human body, it would be simplistic to confine our solution to discouraging driving while ignoring alternative measures which could be also effective to curb the tricky conditions. One option is the use of greener technology such as electronic cars, which can mitigate gas emissions and energy shortage. To deal with health problems, to educate the populace about importance fitness exercises seems to be a more fundamental approach than a simple prohibition on driving.

　　It is my conclusion therefore, although the use of motor vehicles takes a toll on the ecosystem and public health, to discourage the driving trend is not the only option to tackle these problems.
