  【B卷Taske 2参考范文】

Some argue that supplemental economic wealth in an opulent nation couldn’t bring more joy to its citizens. I totally disagree this statement for two reasons.

Firstly, a lot of citizens from all walks of life in an opulent nation will demand more wealth to improve or satisfy their lifestyles. From the bold requests made by the upper class elites to purchase more overseas mansions to the feeble calls of the vagrants living under bridges for another piece of bread, every single penny that finds its way to their pockets becomes a shareholder of their happiness. In addition, for many citizens, living in a rich country doesn’t automatically dismiss their financial concerns from a rising cost of living. In fact, an online study I’ve read recently concluded that the middle classes in many developed countries are facing a shrinking disposable income. In both cases listed above, extra fortune, whether superfluous or not, does generate joy among its recipients.

Zooming in on the matter from another perspective, a rise in the level of happiness can be achieved through an additional flow of capital to the government. For the government can direct this fund to compensate all kind of shortages in social welfare efforts. Take the United States as an example, additional fund used to alleviate pressure of budget on the education and healthcare sectors are usually welcomed for it provided more resources for the young as well as the old. What’s more, other developed countries, such as Greece may need support to pay unemployment insurance to the much needed ever since the rise of its debt crisis. Such directions, to sum up, can benefit the general public in many different sectors ranging from education to pension, which, contradicts to the statement given, will bring more joy to citizen in a wealthy country.

In conclusion, supplemental funds in an opulent nation, whether given to its citizens or its government, can generate gratification among the general public in many ways.
